As I was conceptualizing this Lady Death and Wonder Woman mashup, a question for backstory that ran through my mind was;  how would this version of the Lasso of Truth work?

Wielded by an avatar of death, the idea that came to me, instead of compelling anybody to speak the truth, what if this lasso forced its captive to be confronted by the truth?  Those dark truths we fear the most and hide from... that being forced to face with no defense might decimate the mind, even the will to live.
